Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday, November 1, 2022. All members were present.

A public hearing was held concerning the property located at 322 2nd Ave, Magee. Owners of the property met before the board and advised clean up had taken place on the property. Some issues of concern were addressed. The board asked Assistant  Fire Marshall Shane Steele and Alderman Sue Honea to meet with the owners Wednesday to determine what needed to be corrected.

Bro. Jerry Smith with Beauty for Ashes met before the board requesting permission to sell Christmas Trees during December. Proceeds will go to help children globally and locally. A concert featuring The Voice Contestant Todd Tillman will be held at the location. Board approved the request. The tree sale and concert will take place next to Jose’.

Mayor Dale Berry reminded everyone Mingle on Main sponsored by the Magee Chamber of Commerce is Thursday, November 3, 2022  starting at 5:00 p.m.

Fire Marshall Charlie Valadie advised the city is still under a burn ban until November 15, 2022. The fire department made a total of 33 calls for the month of October.

Police Chief Shane Steele submitted a resignation letter for Matt Gipson.  Matt will be employed by the Attorney General’s office.  The board approved the request effective November 7, 2022.

Meeting entered executive session to discuss personnel issues.
