Birtie Kennedy, Magee, MS
Birtie M. Kennedy, 89, gained her angel wings on December 29, 2017, at Magee General Hospital. She was born on May 23, 1928, to parents Ross and Jewel (Dickerson) Butler in Smith County, MS.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Wardell Kennedy; granddaughters, Connie Hosey, Stacey Hosey; sister, Mary Katherine Lemon; brothers, Charles Butler, Billy Butler and J.D. Butler.
Birtie is survived by her daughter, Peggy Kennedy; granddaughter, Amanda Johnson, sister Dorothy (Curtis) Whitfield; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Mendenhall. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
