Billy Thomas Jones, 82 of Pelahatchie, MS passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at his home in Pelahatchie, MS. He was born Wednesday, November 22, 1939 in Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 2:00 until service time at Antioch Baptist Church in Brandon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Donnie Stuart will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401
Mr. Billy served in the U.S. Air Force for ten years. He attended Ole Miss where he earned a Bachelor degree. He also served as Mayor and Judge in Braxton for over eight years and was a member of the # 465 Masonic Lodge in Braxton. Mr. Billy was a retired Riverboat Captain for over twenty years. He was a member of the Shriner’s of Jackson and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hildred Jones and Nannie Mae Barnes; sister, Georgie Harvey Brown.
Survivors include his wife, T. Joann Jones of Pelahatchie , MS; sons, Robert Jones of Corpus Cove , TX, Mike Edwards and Richard Thornton; daughters, Debbie Cunningham of Dallas Ft. Worth , TX, Connie Mills of Florence , MS, Angela Thornton of Morton , MS and Lisa Kelly of Morton , MS; grandchildren, Jeremiah Thornton, Jacob Thornton, Gabby Tibbs, Cristen Polk, Chris Jones, Debra White, and Catina Johnson; brother, Buddy Jones of Pelahatchie , MS; sisters, Joesphene Rushton of Mendenhall, MS and Jackie Hedgepeth (Joe Henry ) of Brandon , MS; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Thornton, Jacob Thornton, Chris Jones, Henry Mills, and Bubba Vie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Henry Hedgepeth.
