Billy F. Bishop Sr. of Magee, at the age of 84, left his earth suit behind and joyously entered into his heavenly home on May 15th 2015.
He was born on April 7th 1931 to the late Joe Leonard Bishop and Sarah Harris Bishop. He married Ella Nora Green on July 7th 1950. At Goshen Baptist Church, he was a Deacon for 60 years, Sunday School teacher for 55 years and the Minister of Music for over 40 years. He also traveled with The Bishop Family many years singing and witnessing for Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to spend time in the outdoors, especially his garden. His employment years included working at MS State Sanatorium, Pearson’s Salvage and Yelverton’s LP Gas.
Surviving besides his wife of almost 65 years are: Daughter, Deborah Bishop Grant husband Allen of Magee; Son, Billy F. Bishop Jr. wife Robin of Magee; Son, Dr. Kevin B. Bishop wife Evelyn of Calico Rock, AR; Son, Joe Nolan Bishop wife Stacy of Magee; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 6 sisters and by two grandchildren (Rose Bishop and Tod Bishop).
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Research Institution at www.cancerresearch.org or Goshen Baptist Church in Magee, MS. Services will be held at Goshen Baptist Church Monday May 18th at 2:00pm.
