Billy Earl McLendon died of cancer at age 76, he was the son of Mathew and Laura McLendon. He was born Aug 13, 1939 in Mendenhall, MS. Graduate of Mendenhall high school 1958. Marine during the Vietnam War he served in many aspects including as a member of the Helicopter group HMM-265(Flying Dragons) as a gunman where he was shot down once and crashed in another. He became an A/C Refrigeration Technician and ran his own company until he retired. A Tennessee Walking Horse Breeder and enthuastist for many years. A loving husband to his first wife Evelyn Garrett for many years until her death. Then he was blessed to find love again in his wife Ruth Lowery. A loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend too many.
He is survived by wife Ruth Lowery, daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Mark McCoy, granddaughter Haley McCoy, sisters Pauline Williamson, Lavelle Williams, and Zena Shotts, and Bobbie Williams.
He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Garrett, brothers Lynn McLendon, Lonas McLendon,
Frank McLendon, sisters Roma Smith and Lacie Porter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Bro. David Jager will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements, (601)849-5031.
