Betty Cooper Boutwell, 69, passed away on January 12, 2026, at Bedford Care Center in Mendenhall, MS. She was born on January 20, 1956, to James M. Cooper and Mary (Maris) Cooper.
She graduated in 1980 from William Carey College with a teaching degree in special education. She taught for many years until a horrible automobile accident ended her career in teaching.
Betty loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews, more than anything. She cherished her time she got to visit with them. She also enjoyed spending time with her animals, her cat and dog, buying jewelry and making her house into a home. She had a kind and gentle soul and will be missed.
She is survived by her brother, David Cooper (Brenda); niece, Carolyn Thompson (Bryan); great nieces, Ada Mae and Olivia; nephew, Jason Cooper (Heidi); great nephew, Liam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James M. and Mary Cooper.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The service will follow at 1:00 pm with Bro. Mike Miller and Bro. Stacey Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Magee City Cemetery.
