Betty Burkes, 73 of Pearl, MS passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS after an extended illness. She was born Monday, August 15, 1949 in Mississippi.

   Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Apostolic Church Cemetery in Dennistown. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

   She was preceded in death by her father, Ed  Hollie;  mother, Christine  McGriff;  grandchild, Josh Girouard;  brother, Jimmy Wayne Hollie;  sisters, Katherine  Burkes, Jessie  Louise  Buffington, and Willie  Mae  Hollie.

    Survivors include her son, William Burkes, Jr.  (Denise ) of Tylertown , MS;  daughters, Angel  Girouard  (Mark ) of Maurice , LA and Nikki   Burkes  of Pearl, MS;  Nine grandchildren; twenty  great-grandchildren;  brother, James  Hollie  (Jean ) of Purvis , MS;  sisters, Syble  Sheaffer (Bob ) of Clarksville , GA, and Sue Barfield of Texas; and a host  of nieces and nephews and other family and church friends.
