Bertha Cleo Byrd, 100, of Mize, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Windham House in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, August 5, 1919, in Hot Coffee, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi.
A visitation on Sunday, March 1, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Mize, Mississippi. The burial will follow in Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery on SCR 59 in Mize, Mississippi. Bro. Joey McLeod will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Byrd was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and in the Mize Eastern Star. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She taught 1st grade for thirty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Byrd; parents, Burr and Bertha Mayfield Rogers; one grandson, Joshua Landrum; two sisters, Roanoke Rogers Matthews, and Jackie Rogers Clark; three brothers, J.Z. Rogers, Lester R. Rogers, and Paul Rogers.
Survivors include one son, Hugh Byrd (Dee) of Mize; one daughter, Jennie Landrum (Robert) of Ellisville; four grandchildren, Tracy Byrd White (Allen), Trent Byrd (Ashley), Dodie May Ainsworth, and Doug May ( Tracy); eight great-grandchildren, Elizabeth White, Catherine White, Abby Byrd, Cameron Byrd, Grace May, Molly May, Tanner Ainsworth, and Cory Ainsworth; one sister-in-law, Melva Jean Rogers of Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
