Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Benjamin S. Ruffin, Jr., 87 of Diamondhead, who passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins.
Reverend Tommy Shields will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Barbara Brister and Mrs. Amy Pruitt. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Walker, Jake Walker, Tommy Harvey, Jim Hickman, Mac Clayton, and Alex Dupree.
Mr. Ruffin was born on July 23, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi. He retired after numerous years of service as a salesman in the Automotive and Real Estate Industries. Mr. Ruffin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin S. Ruffin, Sr. and Josie Nell Williams Ruffin; and two sons, Benjamin S. Ruffin, III, and John Richard Ruffin.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Mary Ruth Clayton Ruffin of Diamondhead; one daughter, Cinde Ruffin Walker of Magee; one son, William Randall Ruffin of Eight Mile, Alabama; one brother, Ted Williams Ruffin (Bess) of Alabama; two sisters, Jo Nell Ruffin Barksdale and Patricia Ruffin Hickman (Jim), all of Jackson; three grandchildren, Crystal Barthel, Cori Walker Smith (Casey), and Jake Walker; three great-grandchildren, Carson Grace Smith, Charleigh Kate Smith, and Sarah Barthel; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport, 10885 O’Neal Road, Gulfport, Mississippi, 39503.
