Beautiful butterflies were released into the environment at SCA elementary as a project for Keep Simpson County Beautiful.
Mr. Michael Everett of Magee spoke with grades 3 through 6 about bees and their role in the environment. Everyone learned something about bees and how to handle strings.
Keep Simpson County Beautiful ordered butterflies for the students…and the release was a big hit! The butterflies arrived at the home of Evelyn Copeland Thursday in a frozen state. The butterflies were thawed for two hours and then released into the environment.
A pollinator garden featuring a frog and lady bug which were built out of tires was also unveiled on Friday. The group planted wild flowers in the tire garden. The wild flowers were given by our local USDA group.
I’m just saying…I think Evelyn had more fun than any of the students.
Keep Simpson County Beautiful continues to work with each school in the county in an effort to promote the beauty in nature.
