She was known for her sweet spirit. She loved people and liked to do things for others. During her younger years, she enjoyed working in her flowers beds and even occasionally going fishing with her husband. They spent many days camping at Legion Lake. She was no stranger to the kitchen either. Her Cajun roots ran deep. She could cook up a fine gumbo or a jambalaya. She never fa
iled to offer you a glass of sweet tea either.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Stevens; daughter, Carol Stevens; father, Elliot Picou; mother, Ruby Philpot Picou; grandchild, Hunter Brown; brothers, Norris Picou and Kelice Picou.
Survivors include her husband, James “Winky” Kennedy; sons, Danny Stevens (Belinda), Larry Stevens (Teeny); step-sons, Anthony Kennedy (Terry) and Kevin Kennedy; step-daughter, Donna Kennedy Meloling; and a host of grandkids and great-grandkids; sister-in-laws, Betty Picou, Betty Brown, Linda Powell and Selvis Jean Cook (Eugene).
