The “quite” zone library was alive with the sound of steele drums on Friday, July 6th. The tropical sounds of the music was entertaining to all ages.

Mitch Warner, steel drum player and vocalist, entertained the children and adults with the history and playing of the drums. Several young people got “personal” lessons from Mitch.

A native of Trinidad, Mitch has been playing steel drums since 1964. In 1987, Mitch moved to California and six years later to Florida. Mississippi is Mitch’s latest challenge. He entertains at local libraries and establishments.

Mitch has worked at Universal Studios in California, Disney World in Florida, and various hotels and restaurants in Florida.

One piece of advice, if you are coming to the library for a program, bring a blanket. I’m telling ya’ll, the library is a “cool” place.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!
