Auditor’s Office Announces Public Innovations and Efficiencies Award
Award recognizes high-performing government offices
JACKSON, Miss. – State Auditor Shad White announced his office has opened the 2023 Mississippi Public Innovations and Efficiencies (PIE) Award application. The PIE Award was created last year to recognize government offices for the ways they are cutting costs, reducing waste, or improving efficiency in the workplace.
“It’s nice to be able to honor government offices who are coming up with new ways to save taxpayer money,” said State Auditor Shad White. “Usually the Office of the State Auditor spends its time identifying things that have gone wrong, but the PIE award is a good way to reward frugal, smart strategies happening at the local level.”
The 2023 Mississippi PIE Award is open to school districts, county or city governments, and any other government offices in the state. The application can be found online at the Auditor’s website here.
Winners of the 2023 PIE award will be announced beginning in the spring. Last year’s PIE Award winners were the Vicksburg-Warren School District, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College with its creative work-study program, and the City of Cleveland.
Questions about the program or application process can be emailed to PIE@ms.gov or directed to Kelley Ryan.
