Audell Layton Canoy

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee for Audell Layton Canoy, 95, of Mendenhall who passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2015 at her residence.           

          Brother Ben Yarber will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Magee City Cemetery.  Music will be provided by Brother Danny Dickerson.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee will be in charge of the arrangements.

          Mrs. Canoy, a Simpson County native, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.  She was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church.   

          She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Asha Ware Layton; her husband, J.C. Canoy; one son, Durwood Canoy; one granddaughter, Jiconda Parker; one great-grandson, Zach Parker; and two brothers, A.J. Layton and Cletus Layton.

          Survivors include three daughters, Gwen Yarber, and her husband Ben of Columbus, Ruby Meadows and Linda Canoy, both of Magee; two sons, Lowery Canoy and his wife, Deloris of Florence and Rockey Canoy, and his wife, Janice of Magee; daughter-in-law, Jean Canoy of Danbury, Texas; one sister, Evelyn Burkett of Mendenhall; eight grandchildren, Richard Hudson, Steve Yarber (Mauri), Angela Yarber, John Canoy, Amy Washburn (Jason), Lance Canoy, Jacob Canoy (Amber), and Ashley Barr (Jason); four great-grandchildren, Brice McWilliams (Brittany), Morgan Hudson, Kelley Yarber, and Stephanie Yarber; two great great-grandchildren, Caden McWilliams and Tredan McWilliams; and a host of nieces, and nephews.

          Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee.  Family and friends may sign an online guest book at colonialchapelmageemendenhall.com
