JACKSON – As a part of National Consumer Protection Week, Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s Office is offering a messaging toolkit for media partners to help spread the word on how Mississippi residents and businesses can better protect themselves from identity theft and fraud.
National Consumer Protection Week officially begins Sunday, March 1, and runs through March 7. During the awareness week, the Attorney General’s office will also be posting facts and protection tips on social media. Below are sample posts that you can use during National Consumer Protection Week to promote citizen awareness and engagement:

  • 1 in 4 Americans will fall victim to identity theft in their lifetime. As part of National Consumer Protection Week, @LynnFitch (@LynnFitchAG on Facebook and Instagram) will host 3 events to collect your sensitive documents for FREE shredding on-site. Join MS AGO in the fight against identity theft & fraud! #NCPW2020
  • @LynnFitch (@LynnFitchAG on Facebook and Instagram) will host FREE “Shred Days” to protect you from identity theft & fraud. The Office of the Attorney General will be in D’Iberville, Jackson, & Starkville ready to assist you with secure drop-off of your sensitive documents for on-site shredding. #NCPW2020
  • Gather your unwanted, sensitive documents! @LynnFitch (@LynnFitchAG on Facebook and Instagram) will host 3 FREE Community “Shred Days” for on-site shredding in D’Iberville, Jackson, & Starkville. Join MS AGO in the fight against identity theft & fraud. #NCPW2020
  • [insert media outlet or reporter name here] is on-site with Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s team to collect up to 3 kitchen-size garbage bags or 3 medium bankers boxes full of your unwanted, sensitive documents for FREE on-site shredding. The dates and locations of the shred days are listed below, and all three will be from 8 AM to 12 PM, or until the truck fills, whichever comes first (Images Attached).
