The Simpson County Board met Thursday, September 9, 2021, for their regular scheduled meeting. Agenda and minutes were presented and approved.
Judith Jones updated the board on COVID. Year to date for current school year there have been 27 positive staff, 161 positive students, and 8 outbreaks.
On the consent agenda, the board approved for Aleice McGowen, Elton Travis, Joni Mills and Amanda Tindell to attend the MECA Conference, February 23-25, 2022, in Jackson, MS. Dr. Deirdre Randall and Joanna Maddox received permission to attend the MECA Conference, February 23-25, 2022, in Jackson, MS. Dr. Toriano Holloway was granted permission to attend the MS Association of School Administrator’s (MASA) Conference, October 24-26, 2021, in Jackson. Aleice McGowan was granted permission to attend the Women in Cybersecurity (WICYS) Conference, September 8-10, 2021, in Denver, CO.

New athletic supplements for Simpson Central School were approved.

Arlicia Jordan was hired in the new Public Relations position. Her position will start Monday, September 13, 2021.
The claims dockets and financial statements were presented and approved by the board.
The board approved Safe Auto as the new workers compensation representative. Safe Auto was the cheapest and best bid of the ones presented.
Mendenhall Junior High and Magee Middle schools presented their ATSI/TSI/SAR reports. Each school presented the board with updated monthly school reports.
With no further business the meeting entered executive session to discuss a student discipline, and prospective sale or leasing of lands.
