The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Jeremiah 31:13: “Then maidens will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.” The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God! Amen! The prophet Jeremiah was constantly delivering messages to God’s chosen people, the nation of Israel, to turn from their wicked ways; then, God would deliver them from their enemies. Those warnings and assurances were delivered time and time again by Jeremiah, but after a time, warnings of judgment and punishment were delivered to the people. God wants only good things for His people. Today, warnings and assurances are still delivered to us through God’s Word and His anointed servants, but do we listen? Are we compliant and faithful, or are we head-strong and stiff-necked? Let us be counted among the former.
