A shooting occurred Saturday afternoon, June 11th around the vicinity of Greater Dry Ridge MB Church in Mendenhall located at Hwy 13 and Mt. Zion Road. Emergency personnel and Simpson County Sheriffs Department are on the scene. As soon as we receive further information we will pass it along to our readers. Prayers for the families involved.
UPDATE: According to neighbors, 41 year old, Lashon Lofton Harris was shot and killed by her husband, Danny Harris, following a funeral Saturday afternoon. According to witnesses, Danny Harris was hiding in his car and when Mrs. Harris exited the church he shot her and then turned the gun on himself. The injuries of Mr. Harris are unknown at this time.
UPDATE: According to news reports, Danny Harris has also died.
