Magee Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire just before 1:00 am Thursday morning, where firefighters battled an apartment fire located on Raleigh Drive.
Magee Police were first on the scene, clearing the a joining apartments, and providing assistance.
The renter, occupying the home, reported she believes her former boyfriend started the fire after she refused to allow him to come over, due to him being under the influence of alcohol.
After refusing her ex-boyfriend from visiting, the renter also stated her ex allegedly became irate, so she decided to stay with a friend, who also resides in SASE Apartment Complex. Shortly thereafter, neighbors notified her of the fire at her apartment.
Witnesses on the scene also reported seeing the former boyfriend at the apartment complex prior to the fire.
According to officials, at least four apartments were damaged from the fire.
Magee Fire Chief, Lane Steele, notified the State Fire Marshall’s office, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
