And the Title Returns

Once a Trojan, always a Trojan is a motto you hear frequently in Magee. It is a way of life. From Friday night lights to baseball diamonds, we support our boys and girls. So today in true Trojan fashion, students, parents, teachers, family, and friends gathered in Veterans Memorial Stadium to witness history made once again.

To our boys on the field: You fought for the W today. You dug deep as you have all year to bring the title back to Magee. We are exceptionally proud of you. To Cayden Bridges and Xavier Franks, your leaps and dives for the ball showed your determination. You fought for every inch, earned first downs, and put points on the board. You will be remembered for your skill. To Preston Grimes, you will be remembered for consistency with your snaps and your fierce protectiveness of the line that contributed to such remarkable plays. To Keywhaun Ducksworth, your fake punt return drive will forever be immortalized as that play. Not only will we talk about this game and win for years to come, but you and that play will be remembered as well. To all our other players, do not think your amazing plays and performance went unnoticed. We see you! And, finally, to our “mayor,” Chandler Pittman, your energy and expertise will forever be immortalized as Mr. Mississippi 3A Football and as 3A State MVP. But to us, you are a Trojan. You possess skill; you play with heart; and you lead by assisting others to reach greatness too. We thank each of you for an amazing undefeated season.

To our coaches, thank you for believing in our boys, for coaching them to be more than just an athlete, and for loving our boys. To Coach Dyess, thank you for instilling values and honor in our boys. Thank you for believing in the power of Magee and what it means to be a Trojan. You raising the trophy to the stands and letting us know it was heading home, letting us share in the moment, is a testament to you and your heart. Thank you again.
From your fans perspective, the games this season have been amazing to watch. We have enjoyed every minute, but one of the greatest things about today’s game was watching you play with such heart and such big smiles. Although the first half was close, we could still see how much fun you were having, and when you returned from the half, the excitement increased as we watched you prove why the title is returning to Magee and why you are undefeated. You deserve the 3A State title not just because of your skills but your hearts as well.
Thank you for an amazing season!
Go Big Red!
