Simpson County — The property previously acquired by the Simpson County School District (SCSD) for the proposed consolidated high school has officially been sold.
According to Simpson County landowner David Ham, Air South submitted the winning bid for the property at $551,000—an amount exceeding the original purchase price paid by the school district. The sale effectively closes the chapter on the consolidation plan initiated by a previous school board, an issue that had divided opinion across the county.
Air South is expected to move forward with plans to renovate existing structures on the site.
In the wake of the sale, the current Simpson County School Board is redirecting its efforts toward improving existing school facilities throughout the district. Officials have announced a series of community meetings aimed at informing residents about upcoming renovation projects and gathering public input.
