Ag Commissioner Andy Gipson Hosts Meeting with EPA Administrator

JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson met with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 Administrator Daniel Blackman on Wednesday to discuss critical issues impacting agriculture and commerce in the state of Mississippi.

“I was glad to meet with our EPA Regional Administrator Daniel Blackman,” said Commissioner Gipson. “We were able to discuss several topics directly related to Mississippi farmers, ranchers and landowners which included the Yazoo Backwater Pump Project, ‘waters of the United States’ and pesticide regulations.  I look forward to continuing the working relationship between the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce and the EPA.”

Commissioner Gipson was joined by EPA Region 4 Administrator Daniel Blackman, EPA Region 4 Agriculture Advisor Susan Park, MDAC’s Bureau of Plant Industry Director Laura Vollor, and MDAC’s Federal and Environmental Affairs Director Chris McDonald.
