Ag Commissioner Andy Gipson Announces New Staff at MDAC

JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson announced the hire of administrative staff members with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce (MDAC). Beginning July 1, 2024, Commissioner Gipson welcomed Major Steve Shows as Director of Security at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds and Jennifer Boler as Director of Administration at MDAC. 

 

“I am proud to welcome Major Steve Shows and Jennifer Boler on staff at the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce,” said Commissioner Gipson. “I am confident that Major Shows’ expertise in law enforcement and special operations will ensure the Mississippi State Fairgrounds remains safe during the hundreds of events hosted there annually, and Jennifer Boler’s extensive background of working in various administrative roles at other state agencies will be beneficial in creating new efficiencies.”

Major Steve Shows will serve as Director of Security at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds located in Jackson. Shows recently retired from the Mississippi Highway Patrol with a combined 28 years of law enforcement experience. Major Shows served Major of Special Operations and assisted in several areas within the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Previously, Shows was a Master Sergeant in the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Division, Assistant Troop Commander, and Troop Commander for the Central Region Troop C Enforcement Division. 

 

Shows graduated from Mendenhall High School and attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He also graduated from Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy and Mississippi Highway Patrol School. Shows owns a small pine tree farm and resides in Mendenhall with his fiancé, Tabitha, and three children. 

 

Jennifer Boler joins as the Director of Administration at MDAC. Previously, Boler served in several major administrative roles at the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, and the Mississippi State Department of Health. 

 

Boler is completing her Doctor of Business Administration from Liberty University. She received a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Belhaven University. She also works as an adjunct professor at Belhaven University teaching business courses and serves as an advisor for the School of Business. Boler resides in Florence with her husband, Paul, and two children.
