Accident Claims Life Of A Smith County Juvenile

On Sunday, January 15, 2017, at approximately 4:20am, a Smith County Deputy was responding to an alarm call.    A motorcycle occupied by two male juveniles was struck by the Deputy’s patrol vehicle.  According to Smith County Sheriff, Charlie Crumpton,  the deputy was not in pursuit.   Sheriff Crumpton adds that one male juvenile was deceased at the scene while the other male juvenile was transported by helicopter to UMMC in Jackson.    The accident occurred on Hwy 28 West of the Mize city limits at County Road 64.  The names of the juveniles, as well as, the deputy are not being released at this time due to  the ongoing investigation.

According to media, the young men attended Mize School.  Prayers for all involved in this tragedy.

UPDATE:

According to other media networks, Smith County Coroner Billy Allen released the following information… Brandon Cross Duvall, 14 years old, died at the scene.   Tristen Hernandez, 13  years old, was airlifted to UMMC and remains there.
