Melinda Green set out on a mission…and she completed that mission!  Melinda has been and is concerned about the residents of our city.  For almost a year, Melinda has worked diligently to secure a CDBG grant for the city of Magee.  The grant deals with sewage…something we all don’t like to think about…but something that greatly affects our lives!  The City of Magee has faced an almost crisis in the cleaning of the existing lagoons and preparing another.  Melinda took on the project of seeking a grant to assist with this problem in our city.  She and her daughter went door to door in Magee completing surveys required for the awarding of the grant.  Everything required by the grant, Melinda met the challenge.

Joe Barton (Bart) Ballard, City engineer,  commented at the Tuesday, December 21, 2021, meeting “many of the cities I work with applied for the CDBG grant…but didn’t receive the grant.  Melinda did an excellent job in completing the forms for the grant and it paid off.”

Melinda and her  daughter sponsor children for Christmas and school time. Melinda sponsors a back to school Gala giving school supplies in addition to food and prizes.  The elderly have a special place in Melinda’s heart.  She assist with  home repairs for the elderly.  Melinda realizes the importance of folks building their credit  and assisting people with the process of buying a home.  Melinda helps people find jobs. Her Out Reach Program does a lot behind the scene.

“I put God first and He helps me to be able to help others,” stated Green. “When my daughter and I set out to do something,  we always put in 100% of our effort into getting it done,” explained Melinda.

I am glad Melinda is a go-getter and is willing to invest her time in the City of Magee.  The success of Magee depends on its people.
