June 12, 2018 was a life changing day for Walt Prince.  Walt learned he had invasive malignant melanoma!  Our prayer warriors prayed for Walt and his family.  After months of treatment he was given an all clear bill with follow ups.

Walt shared this message on Facebook Wednesday, June 12, 2019.  I think many of you will be as moved by his words as I have.

Continued prayers are needed but what a day for prayers of thanksgiving.

We love you, Walt

“Aunt” Sue (he is the only person in the world who calls me Aunt Sue!)

June 12th 2018, a day I will never forget. A day that would change my life forever. Being diagnosed with invasive malignant melanoma is a feeling that I will never be able to describe. I was terrified and scared to death because I honestly had no idea what was about to happen next. I have always considered myself to be a Christian, but I will be the first to admit that I was not living my life the right way at all. Growing up I would always read chapters and verses from the Bible, but it didn’t have meaning to them at the time. I was just doing that to say that I have “read through the Bible.” That ride home after being diagnosed I can honestly say that I gave my life to God. I prayed for forgiveness and that He lead me in the right ways to show others how good He truly is. That night I opened my Bible and read with meaning for the very first time. I came across Luke chapter 15 which talks about the Parable of the Lost Sheep. God says, “what man has 100 sheep and loses one of them, do you not leave the 99 in the field until you find it? When he has found it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders, and coming home, he calls his friends and neighbors together, saying, rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep!” Then God finishes His story with, “There will be more joy in Heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous people who don’t need repentance.” That gave me hope and a whole new meaning to my life. Knowing that I had been lost, God found me lost and broken and put me on His shoulders and carried me home. A few days later I had surgery to remove the spot of melanoma and had some lymph nodes taken out as well to be sent off to see if the cancer had started to spread. Days went by and I finally received a call from the doctor about the lymph nodes. One of them came back clean and the other one had to be sent off to a specialist for a second opinion. A week went by and on July 2nd, 2018 we got the news that everyone had been praying for. I was cancer free! A couple weeks later, my papaw and I had a conversation on the golf course and he said to me, “Son, I have been thinking about going and talking with the preacher about being baptized.” I said, “Papaw, I have been thinking the exact same thing.” We had both been baptized when we were younger but it had no meaning because we were just being baptized because our friends were. On September 9th, 2018 we both went public with our faith and were baptized together! That moment and that day is one I will never forget and hold a very special place in my heart. With all of this being said, I just want you to get one thing from this. Never give up. No matter how lost you may be or how many times you have failed, God will ALWAYS find you where you are and will carry you on his shoulders and lead you back home just like he did for me. He will find ways and provide situations for you to show you how good He really is. His unfailing love for us will never let us down! Love you guys and God Bless! 🙌🏻
