Can you believe Magee and Mendenhall have been playing for 93 years!  The rivalry is one of the longest running in the State of Mississippi.

I remember “years” ago, when we played in Mendenhall, the “torch” was run all the way up highway 49 to Mendenhall for the game.  We decorated the roadway from Magee to the city limits of Mendenhall.  The local stores did Trojan/Tiger displays in their windows.  I don’t think we “participated” in school the entire week!

What are some of the things you remember?  I’m always interested in what years did what.  Share with Sue@mageenews.com or on MageeNews FB page.

Friday, everyone in Magee is to wear red!

Thursday night is “burn the tiger” and the funeral procession.

What a great time and memories for our students.

MageeNews.com will live stream the game on the home page of MageeNews.com.  We have students who are interning to learn more about livestreaming, marketing, and filming…Justin Duckworth (8th grade) is assisting in filming the game!  (I just really like to see our students have an opportunity to build their resume’.

Magee holds the record for the most wins!

When Magee and Mendenhall were both part of the Little Dixie Conference, the game or championship game had as many as 8,000 people lining our field…can you imagine.  I just remember it was hot…people everywhere…and bragging rights on the line.

Pray for both teams for no injuries…..and pray we all act nice.

Be ye kind one to another….wonder if that applies to the Mendenhall game!
