5 New Businesses Coming to Magee, According to Mayor Dale Berry

New businesses coming to Magee!

At the August 21, 2018 Magee Board of Aldermen meeting, the following report was given by Mayor Dale Berry.

According to Mayor Berry, the following new businesses coming to Magee are “deals done.” The city has either plans or conformation from the following business coming to Magee:

  • Heliport at Magee General Hospital
  • Dollar Tree
  • Maxem Urgent Care (in the old Movie Gallery on highway 49)
  • Angela’s Lawn & Garden (moving to old Yelverton Gas Building near Zips)
  • Rain Forrest Car Wash

Several other new businesses coming to Magee have deals that are still floating but not confirmed, such as a hamburger chain and barbecue restaurant.

In addition to new businesses coming to Magee, Walmart and Stacy Apartments are undergoing renovation.  Mayor Berry, also, apologized for the condition of the flower beds at the library. Beds have been cleaned.

MML fall conference is in Vicksburg October 24-25 if any board members would like to attend.

The Mayor’s Youth Council will be named in the next week. 12 youth in grades 9-12 from Magee High School and Simpson Academy are chosen for the council. (total of 24) The individual school selects members for the council.

Mayor Berry commented on a practice Judge Reggie Blackledge has begun at City Court. A local young person who is interested in the law or court system is invited to “bang” the gavel to signal the beginning of City Court. Mason Kennedy was the first young person to perform the action.

Attorney Chris Purdum filled in for regular City Attorney Bruce Smith due to a personal emergency.
