The mid-term elections are less than a month away with three school board positions to be filled.

Do you know what district you are in?
Check the attached map for more info.

I had a very interesting interview Wednesday with 3 members of the Simpson County Development Foundation Leadership Team: Joni Johnson, Julian Harper, and Terrance Norwood.

The SCDF Leadership class always chooses a project. This year, the group decided to start on their project early. Joni told how at every meeting the necessity of strong public schools was discussed.

On November 6, 2018, three new school board members will be chosen. These three people along with the other two will have a great influence on the direction of our schools. The superintendent of education will be appointed not elected. The ‘new” school board will make the appointment.

The leadership class is planning a forum for candidates running for the position of school board. The forum will be Monday, October 29, 2018 beginning at 6 PM and will be held at Simpson Co-Lin campus.

The committee is promoting ”One County, One School Board, Moving Forward.”
The committee is working together for all schools in Simpson County.

We have a video available for your viewing which gives some insight into the feelings of the three committee members. Let me say up front! I am sorry about the condition of the video with the squares. Ya’ll, sometimes I think the devil is after me! We are having terrible internet problems at the studio and the filming got all messed up due to dropping internet. I promise ya’ll, we are trying! We have purchased a new camera which we are learning to use…and I AM going to figure out this internet issue. (If I don’t kill AT&T first!).
