Members of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Faith Tabernacle Church of God In Christ, and Goodwater CME Church united for the 2nd Annual Goodwater Community Cleanup in observance of Earth Day. The group met at the old Magee Elementary School around 9:00am on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
After sharing in a virtual prayer led by Ms. Cleopatra Fletcher, participants were divided into groups. Rev. E. Darnell Moffett organized maps, and Mr. Joe Logan and Mrs. Veronica Magee coordinated street assignments.
Rev. Moffett and Mr. Homer Hall were on weedeater duty while other participants patrolled within and around the community on foot picking up paper and other debris.
Alderman Patrick Brown provided supplies and coordinated a city truck to be onsite for trash collection. Supervisor Mitchell Chatman arranged for a county truck to be available for the disposal of large items.
This year’s community cleanup organizing committee was Sylvia Carter, Luvenia Fletcher, Anika Floyd, Kim Jackson, Joe Logan and Veronica Magee.
