2022 Budget Presented to Board

Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday, August 18, 2021.

The board approved to amend the date of the second board meeting of September to the 2nd Tuesday and not the third. The board meetings will take place Tuesday, September 7, 2021 and Tuesday, September 14, 2021.  The September 7, 2021 meeting will begin at 6:00 PM for a public hearing on the budget.

A beer ordinance was approved for Star Food Mart. The business is under new ownership requiring a new ordinance.  Virenkumar Patel is the new owner.

The Chamber requested an additional street to be closed for Crazy Day on Friday, October 22, 2021 after 5:00 p.m. allowing food vendors and carnival to begin sitting up for Crazy Day. The street closing is 1st Street located on the corner between Slover Dental and Sassy Glass.

Tim Brey with Public Works updated the board on ongoing projects within the city. The city workers are busy patching potholes and cleaning ditches. Tim advised all equipment was  in operation.

Shane Steel, property management, advised the board several projects are being addressed. Legal measures are being taken in areas of clean up. Steele was focusing on business at this point to clean up needed areas.

Chief of Police Chris Jones asked the board to accept the resignations of previous employees whose names were still on the books.

The board approved three new hires for the police department.

  • Cassandra James was moved from part-time to full-time .
  • Cedrick Allbritton was hired as a full time certified officer.
  • Matthew Cody Moulds was approved to be hired as a full-time office.
  • Deaundrea Williams was hired as a part-time officer.

Brett Duncan with Prince CPA met before the board to present the budget.  Approval was given by the board to advertise in the Magee Courier of a public hearing on the proposed budget and proposed tax levies for the upcoming fiscal year for the City of Magee to be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the boardroom at the Magee City Hall.  The board will approved the budget at a later meeting.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
