The class of 2018 MS Scholars from Simpson County were honored with a banquet Thursday, May 3, 2018. Simpson County had a total of 101 scholars.

All scholars were recognized and issued certificates and medals by their principal or headmaster.
MS Scholars along with Copiah Lincoln Community College issued a total of seven scholarships.

The Mississippi Scholars Initiative is an education program managed by the Public Education Forum of Mississippi, which utilizes business leaders to motivate students to complete a rigorous course of study in high school.
Members of the MS Scholars Steering Committee are Patrice Boykin, President, Fountaine McNair – Vice Presdient, Richard Rankin – Secretary Treasurer, Mag Paige, Rev. Darnell Moffett, Dr. Anika Floyd, Dr. Dewayne Middleton, and Nicole Cheramine.
Special guest in attendance were Simpson County School Board President Stacey Herrin, Debbie Davis – District Office, LauraLyn Barr – Magee Chamber President, Candidates Chris Purdurm, Price Wallace and Camper Scott (who mainly was a supporting mom for the night).
