FO10Many gathered together Friday night, May 14, 2015 to honor our local Fallen Officers in the line of duty.  A well prepared program was prepared and presented beginning with the Opening Prayer by Rev. Carol King.  A poem was read by Captain Fred Williams called “The Broken Chain”.  Scripture was read by Sheriff Kenneth Lewis along with his wife, Marilyn Lewis.

FO7 As the Bag Piper played “Going Home” and “Amazing Grace” the congregation lite candles in their honor.  “The Momument” is a poem read by Undersheriff Will Carroll followed by Laquieta Walker-Dampier singing “Heaven Was Needing a Hero”.   Undersheriff Will Carroll read out the names of our local fallen officers.

FO6  Honoring the Fallen Officers were then honored by the Three Count Volley presented by the Pearl Police Department Honor Guard as the seven stood in attention and fired 3 rounds (21 gun salute).  Retiring of Colors was presented by our very own SCSO Honor Guard.     FO2 Once the Flag was folded and presented, the Honor Guard was called to attention and in the background you could hear the sound of “Taps” played by The Honorable Mayor Jimmy Clyde.

The men and women that spend their lives serving and protecting us many times goes unnoticed and unappreciated until the nightmare of something bad happens.   The least we can do for our Fallen Officers is salute you and to our present Officers we do appreciated all that you do.
