According to Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie, the heat is on!  Please continue to hydrate, check on neighbors, and beware of pets.  If pets are mistreated near your home, please contact City Hall.  The Magee dog catcher will address the issue.
Significant Heat This Week
The combination of heat and humidity will reach dangerous levels Tuesday through Saturday of this week, with significant heat stress expected late week into early weekend. Heat indices will reach the 106 to 110 degree range for much of the area, while in the 111 to 115 degree range in the northwest Delta on Friday and Saturday. Residents should avoid prolonged outdoor activity, especially from the late morning through the afternoon.
Flooding Today
The atmosphere is very moist, so any showers and thunderstorms that develop today may produce heavy downpours that lead to localized flash flooding. The main area of concern is over southeast Mississippi.
