I was honored—and I mean honored—to interview three young people who are helping lead Fellowship of Christian Athletes at schools across Simpson County: Gervin Garcia of Magee High School, Kayli Smith of Mendenhall High School, and Jack Ashmore of Simpson Academy.
These young people are walking the walk and sharing the walk!
Just being in the presence of these young people who are so on fire for Jesus put a little extra fire in my own heart. They are sharing their faith, reaching out to others, and showing the love of Christ through their words and actions.
During our interview, Gervin, Kayli, and Jack talked about what FCA means to them personally and the impact the organization is having on students at their schools. What impressed me most was that their faith wasn’t something they were simply talking about—it was something they genuinely wanted to live and share with others.
Jack Ashmore is a senior at Simpson Academy, while Gervin Garcia and Kayli Smith are juniors at Magee and Mendenhall High Schools.
I hope you will take a few minutes to watch the video. These three did such a wonderful job, and hearing them speak straight from their hearts gave me a good feeling about the young people in our schools.
Sometimes we hear so much about what’s wrong in the world that we forget to look around at what’s right.
Gervin, Kayli, and Jack reminded me that there are young people right here in Simpson County who love the Lord, aren’t afraid to share their faith, and want others to know the love of Jesus.
And folks, that gives me hope.
Bill Broadhead is the sponsor for the FCA in our county. If you know Bill, you know he gives his all.
