LAUREL, Miss. — April 13, 2025 — South Central Regional Medical Center recently hosted its annual Community Health Fair, offering a variety of free health educational materials and testing to more than 200 members of the community.
Attendees were provided with several types of health screenings and educational opportunities throughout the event. The following free health screenings were available: blood glucose screening, blood pressure screening, body mass index screening, bone density screening, heart and stroke assessments, depression screening and oxygen saturation screening.
“I am so glad that I got to participate in the health fair,” an attendee said. “I am a child of adoption, so I do not have much insight into my family’s health background. It was nice to have this free opportunity to check on certain aspects of my health.”
Guests also enjoyed healthy refreshments as they moved through the various stations.
“We are proud to support the community we serve by offering health education events like this annual health fair,” said Susan Sanders, South Central’s Executive Director of Foundation and Marketing. “We would not have been able to hold this event without the support of our clinical and hospital departments and our various nursing volunteers, including Jones College nursing volunteers, who showed up here today to help us deliver meaningful preventive care.”
