Norma Ruth Cardin Phillips
(May 9, 1942 – September 8, 2022)

Norma Ruth Cardin Phillips, 80 of Magee, Mississippi passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born Saturday, May 9, 1942, in Oklahoma.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, LA.  Reverend Ken Harris will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Mrs. Norma was a member of Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Magee, Mississippi.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.  She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Opal Cardin; great-grandchildren, Avery and Owen; father, Lonnie Phillips; mother, Minnie Sharpe Phillips; brothers, Gerald Phillips, Floyd Phillips and Charlie Phillips; and sister, Faye Phillips.

Survivors include her one son, James Cardin (Melissa) of Mount Olive, MS; three daughters, Linda Cardin Dennis (Willie) of Magee, MS, Brenda Cardin Matthews (James) of Newellton, LA and Sandra Cardin Whatley (Mike) of Raleigh, MS; nine grandchild, Lizzy, Kathleen, Brandy, Randy, Amber, Julie, Michael, Amanda, and Darlene; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Phillips LeBeau and Brenda Phillips both of CA; and a host of other family members, and her Hillcrest Nursing Home family.

Pallbearers will be Michael Cardin, Randy Matthews, Devin Pruden, Steven Wells, Jason Wells, Mason Pearce, Dewayne Fairchild, Josh Fairchild, Tobie Matthews, and Bubba Pruden.
