Coach Dick Wendt needs our prayers.
Coach Wendt has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and I know there are many, many people throughout Magee who will be lifting him and his family up in prayer.
For years, Coach Wendt has been a fixture at Magee Schools. And when I say years—I mean years! He has touched the lives of countless students, not only as a coach but also as a teacher.
Coach Wendt was instrumental in promoting Cross Country at Magee and helped get the soccer program started. But his talents weren’t limited to the athletic field. He was a whiz in the classroom, too!
If you attended Magee Schools during Coach Wendt’s years there, chances are you have a Coach Wendt story. That’s what happens when someone invests so much of his life in young people and his school.
Friday night, October 2, the Magee High School Trojan football field will carry a special tribute to Coach Wendt. The field has been painted in his honor—a wonderful way for the Trojan family to show some love to a man who has given so much to Magee Schools.
Sometimes the people who spend years encouraging others need a little encouragement themselves.
Coach Wendt, your Trojan family is behind you. We love you, we appreciate you, and most of all, we are praying for you!
