The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation recently elected seven new members to its board of directors: Stedman Brent, Sammye Burris, Colby Calcote, Bryce Chapman, Michael Harvey, John Riley, and Bill Salters.
Stedman Brent
Stedman Brent of Magnolia attended Co-Lin and Jackson State University where he studied business administration. He is a 2024 graduate of the National Automobile Dealers Association Academy. He is general sales manager at Toyota of Brookhaven, where he has been employed for more than 10 years. Brent and his team have been selected as Best New Auto Dealer in Southwest Mississippi by the Daily Leader, and the dealership is a two-time recipient of the President’s Award, Toyota’s highest dealership honor for outstanding customer satisfaction. He is vice president of Igniting Arts Academy, a local worship arts and community organization. He is married to Chantis Brent.
Sammye Burris
Sammye Burris of Brookhaven graduated from Co-Lin in 1987 and later attended The University of Mississippi School of Banking. She is a loan officer and senior vice president at United Mississippi Bank in Bude. Burris returns to the board after serving as a long-time member and is past president.
She is a member of First Baptist Church in Bude where she serves on the finance committee. She is married to Trent Burris and has two sons, Taylor Bailey (Charlotte), and Trey Bailey (Brooklyn), and three grandchildren.
Colby Calcote
Colby Calcote of Brookhaven is a 1998 graduate of Co-Lin and received a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2000. He is also a graduate of Leadership Lauderdale in Meridian and the Mississippi School of Banking at the University of Mississippi. He has worked in banking and finance for 25 years and serves as executive vice president of Bank of Brookhaven.
He was a member of the Wolf Pack baseball team and was inducted into the Co-Lin Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. Calcote also played baseball at Southern Miss. He is a past president of the Co-Lin Athletic Alumni Association, past president and current member of the Krewe of Ceres and past president and current member of the Brookhaven Servitium Club.
He has also previously served as a member of the Brookhaven Academy Educational Foundation Board of Directors, the Finance Council at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi Board of Directors.
Calcote and his family are members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He and his wife, Kathleen have two children: Wilson and Camille.
Bryce Chapman
Bryce Chapman of Brookhaven is a 2019 graduate of Co-Lin and received a bachelor of arts degree in communication from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2021. He is also a graduate of the Mississippi School of Banking and serves as assistant vice president of Copiah Bank in Wesson.
Chapman was a member of the Wolf Pack golf team at Co-Lin. He and his wife Kara, a 2019 graduate, are members of Johnson Grove Church of Christ in Brookhaven. They have one son, Bennett.
Michael Harvey
Michael Harvey of Silver Creek is a graduate of Lawrence County High School and attended Co-Lin from 1994-1996. He is a facilities coordinator at Georgia Pacific in Monticello. He is a member of Monticello Lodge #610 and Monticello Baptist Church. He provides play-by-play commentary for Lawrence County High School baseball games on WDRO-FM.
Harvey has three adult children, Bayleigh Johnson, Braeden Harvey, and Michael Scott Harvey.
John Riley
John Riley of Magee is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration. He is also a graduate of the Simpson County Development Foundation’s Future Leaders Program. He is a loan officer at PriorityOne Bank in Magee.
Riley is a member of the Simpson County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and serves as vice president of the Simpson County Mississippi Scholars Steering Committee.
Bill Salters
Bill Salters of Pearl is a 1975 graduate of Co-Lin where he played on the Wolf Pack football team. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1978 and from the University of Georgia’s Executive Management School of Banking in 1985. He later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Alcorn State University in 2002. He is retired after a 38-year career in banking in Natchez and Vidalia, Louisiana. He returns to the board after previously serving for more than 20 years and is a past president.
Salters and his wife Martha met as students at Co-Lin and have been married for more than 50 years. They are parents to three daughters, Sydney Magee (Tony), Sarah Loy (Jeremy), and Sunny McGehee (Casey), eight grandchildren, two great granddaughters and another great granddaughter on the way.
“I am so pleased to welcome these new members to the board,” Angela Furr, executive director of the Co-Lin Foundation, said. “Their diverse experiences, expertise and connections will be valuable as we continue working together in support of the college and its mission.”
The Co-Lin Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization which serves as the fundraising arm of the college. The Foundation is governed by a 24-member board of directors whose goal is to raise private monies to support the mission of the college.
