James Fount May, 82, passed away on May 1, 2026. He was born to James Laverna May and Maryland Virginia Russell on November 7, 1943, in Jackson, MS.

He is survived by his sons, James Melvin May and Nicholas J. May; sisters, Gloria Thomas and Sylvia Roberts; and multiple grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Laverna May “Shorty” and Maryland Virginia Russell May; son, Joel May; and brother, William Johnathan May.

James enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved horses and enjoyed watching football. James was a homebody, but looked forward to visits from his many friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
