Saturday, June 15, 2024, proved to be a hot, fun, and successful day at the first Farmer’s Market of the summer.  The Market was located in the parking lot next to the Community House in downtown Magee.

Sponsored by the Magee Chamber of Commerce, the event offered an array of items:  fresh vegetables, watermelons, cantaloupe, flowers, baked goods, handmade items, permanent  flowers, clothing, Jimmy Lott honey, barbecue, knives, and I’m sure I forgot something!

Brother Buddy Keyes had Simpson county grown vegetables…he actually had okra!

The Maddox crew, from the Maddox Fruit Stand located on highway 28, had the best watermelon and cantaloupes, and of course their wonderful vegetables.

Hopefully, the Farmer’s Market will become at least a monthly event.

Thanks to Lacey Evans and the chamber board for their dedication to making the Market a reality.  Doris Adcox, executive director, handle pre-market necessities and was on hand for the day.

How did I miss this! Looks like so much fun! Hate I missed the fresh veggies – and I need one of those bottle openers! Will certainly be looking for it again!
