Douglas Gerald Eubanks passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, in Odessa, TX. He was born on May 20, 1964, to Charlie Eubanks, Jr. and Erna Belle (Norris) Eubanks in Louisiana.
His family later moved to the Saratoga/Calvary church community, where he became a lifelong resident of Smith County. Doug graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1983, and then went to Jones County Junior College on a football scholarship. He played for two seasons, and if you knew him, you heard more than one story about his plays on the field. After college, Doug began his career in the oil field as a galley hand. He worked his way up the ranks to become a consultant for Shell Oil.
Doug was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandson. He was also known as a good storyteller. Doug enjoyed entertaining friends and family with his many stories about anything and everything to get a laugh or two. He will be remembered for many things like singing the wrong words to a song, washing his vehicle off in the rain, and always making sure the grass was cut. He was a proud father of his three children and he treasured his four grandchildren, who affectionately called him Pops/Papaw.
He is survived by his father, Charlie Eubanks, Jr. (Tressie); son, Brent Douglas Eubanks; daughters, Allison McNeil, Courtney Knight (Chris); brothers, Billy Carl Eubanks, Rusty Eubanks, Stanley Eubanks; sister, Sissy Power (Johnnie); grandchildren, Drake McNeil, Myles McNeil, Christian Knight, Creedence Knight and a host of family and friends.
Doug is preceded in death by his mother and brother, Richard Dewayne Eubanks.
