HYDE-SMITH WELCOMES SENATE PASSAGE OF RURAL HOSPITAL LEGISLATION

May 21, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ahead of Memorial Day, U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued a statement in which she encouraged Mississippians and all Americans to live in a way that reflects the values for which American service members died defending.

“This Memorial Day, let us live in a way that reflects the values they defended – with gratitude, purpose, and with a commitment to never take our liberty for granted,” Hyde-Smith said.

Read Hyde-Smith’s complete 2026 Memorial Day message below:

Each year, Memorial Day calls us back to what matters most: the men and women who laid down their lives for our freedom.  Their sacrifice was an act of courage and a gift that has shaped every generation of Americans.

As we gather with friends and family this holiday weekend, let us remember the true meaning of this day.  Freedom has a price.

To our Gold Star Families: your loss is immeasurable, and Mississippi stands with you today, and always.

Mississippi has a deep connection to this day of remembrance, and that legacy continues in the character of our people and our honor of those who gave their all.

This Memorial Day, let us live in a way that reflects the values they defended – with gratitude, purpose, and with a commitment to never take our liberty for granted.

May God bless our fallen heroes, their families, and the United States of America.
