David H. Counts, age 87, passed away on June 6, 2026 at Hillcrest Nursing Center in Magee, MS. David was born in Rayville, LA to James Andrew and Gladys Ester Jordan Counts. He was the third child of twelve in his family.

David loved to tell people about Jesus and “preached” whenever he could. He loved reading God’s word and was ready to meet his Lord and Savior.

He had numerous jobs throughout his career. He was a dispatcher for Chevron Oil and worked in sales until retirement.

David loved his large family which was not only his eleven siblings, but many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Counts (Irene), Jimmie Counts (Eliske); sisters, Mary Counts and Barbara McKenzie (Mack), and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his son Christopher R. Counts; sisters, Bonnie Graves, Elizabeth Rayborn (Terry); brothers, Herb Counts (Pat), Eugene Counts (Pam), Herschel Counts (Debbie), and Ricky Counts (Hailey).

Pallbearers are Brogan Mason, Sammy Mason, Bobby Counts, Tarvey Counts, James Counts, and Hamp Counts.

The family would like to thank PAX Hospice nurses Shelby and Nicole and others who cared for our brother during his last few days. The family would also like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Nursing Center for caring for him during the past six years.
