How sweet it is to be a COUGAR!
For the second year in a row, the Simpson Academy Lady Cougars are bringing home a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!
And they did it in a BIG way!
Monday night at Copiah Academy in Gallman, the Lady Cougars defeated Copiah Academy 16–6 in five innings to claim the MAIS Class 4A, Division I State Softball Championship!
The victory came in the third and deciding game of the championship series. With everything on the line, these girls stepped up and showed exactly what they were made of!
BACK-TO-BACK STATE CHAMPIONS! Now, that has a mighty nice ring to it!
Winning one state championship is something special. Winning TWO in a row takes an incredible amount of dedication, talent, teamwork, and determination.
These young ladies have put in the hours, endured the practices, battled through the tough games, and never lost sight of their goal. When the pressure was on, they answered the challenge.
And let’s not forget those coaches! Behind every successful team are coaches who push, encourage, teach, and believe in their players. What a tremendous accomplishment for the entire softball program!
Of course, there’s another important part of this championship story—the Cougar fans! Parents, grandparents, students, and supporters have followed these girls, cheered them on, and stood behind them throughout the season.
That kind of support means more than words can express.
I can only imagine the excitement when that final out was recorded Monday night! All those practices, all those games, and all that hard work came together for one unforgettable moment.
What makes this championship even sweeter is knowing these girls have accomplished something that will always be part of Simpson Academy history.
Years from now, they’ll remember their teammates, the excitement of the games, the bus rides, the laughter, and the feeling of celebrating another state championship together.
Those are memories that last a lifetime.
Congratulations to the Simpson Academy Lady Cougars, their coaches, and the entire Cougar family!
You’ve made your school and community mighty proud!
