The City of Magee and Simpson County came together Thursday evening for a special time of prayer, gathering at 5 p.m. at the City of Magee Civic Center.
The service was a heartfelt opportunity for community members to pause, reflect and seek God’s guidance, protection and peace following the recent incidents of gunfire and violence throughout the county.
Area pastors and preachers joined together to lead the community in prayer, offering words of encouragement and faith during a difficult time. The gathering served as a reminder that, even in moments of uncertainty, a community can come together, lift one another up and look to God for strength and direction.
The prayer service was organized by Ward 4 Alderman Jullian Harper, who helped bring local faith leaders and residents together for the evening of prayer.
As the service came to a close, those in attendance joined hands, forming a large circle of prayer. Standing together, hand in hand, the group prayed for Magee, Simpson County, its families, its leaders and the safety of the entire community.
It was a powerful closing to an evening centered on faith, unity and hope.
And as the community gathered in prayer, another Magee tradition was getting ready to take center stage.
The Magee Trojans and Mendenhall Tigers are set to square off Friday night on Tiger Field, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
From prayer to football, the community continues to come together — standing united, supporting one another and showing what it means to be Magee and Simpson County strong.
