Four of the nine girls who played on the 1986 SCA Over-All State Championship team and their coach gathered Friday night at SCA Gym.  The school recognized the team, Coach Simmons, Coach David Holbrook, and

Mr. Max Mullins.

Mary Bates, Jodi McPhail, Terri Allen, Shara Grayson, and Charlotte Walker attended the Friday night reunion.  A “surprise” for the team was the appearance of  Coach Steve Simmons!  For seven years,

Coach Simmons led the Cougars.  Mr. Max Mullins was recognized for his unending love and support of SCA.  Coach Simmons stated that Mr. Max would show up every morning after a game

to help clean under the bleachers or work at the baseball field…without pay.  “The best volunteer we ever had,” stated Simmons.

 

The 1986 State Championship team won the game in Marks, Mississippi following a season of thirty wins and fourteen losses.

Following the  ceremony, the the team, classmates, family and friends were invited to a reception held in the school.

 

Congratulations to a great group of girls…two favorite coaches…and a man who lived his life helping others.
