Friday, September 2nd marked the final day of the successful food drive of Gentiva Hospice. All contributions support “Doll’s House” Shelter, abuse shelter, located in Brookhaven.
Gentiva serves several areas in the state and every year chooses one of the areas to support.
The group collected 2,672.8 pounds of food! Weight of monetary donation was 5,353 pounds….making a grand total of 8,024.8 pounds! (4.8 pounds per donation of money).
This group of people…and Smooch (Al and Jacqueline Gordy’s therapy dog…and of course “big man on campus”) gathered for the sending of the pounds of food to the Doll’s House Shelter.
The following people worked on this project for months: Sara Skinner QM, Erika Newsome ED, Jennifer Teater MP, Valerie Berry PCS, Debbie Mason MVS, Cassandra Walker SW, Debra Collins HA, Sara Kennedy volunteer, Diane McPhail volunteer, Dizziea Mitchell volunteer, Allen Gordy volunteer, Smooch therapy dog, and Taysha Rivers volunteer.
One of the greatest benefits of hospice care is emotional support given to the caregiver as well as the support and care of the patient.
