MAGEE, MS— It was a night filled with laughter, love, and heartfelt appreciation as Goodwater Baptist Church recently gathered to honor its ministerial staff during a special Pastor Appreciation celebration.
The evening, appropriately titled“Game Night,”transformed the church’s fellowship hall into a festive tailgate party, complete with spirited decorations, delicious food, and an atmosphere of excitement. The celebration honored Pastor Jason Webb, Minister of Music Ed Meadows, and Children’s Minister Luke Hardin for their faithful service and dedication to the church family.
The event was sponsored and organized by the church’s deacons and their wives, with many other church members contributing their time, talents, and resources to make the evening truly spectacular. From the creative decorations to the thoughtful details, it was evident that the entire celebration was a labor of love.
One of the highlights of the night was a lively trivia competition led by the evening’s master of ceremonies, John Walker. With plenty of friendly competition, hilarious moments, and good-natured fun, the room was filled with laughter throughout the evening. It was much more than a church gathering; it was a family enjoying life together.
For Minister of Music Ed Meadows, the celebration was another reminder of the blessing of returning home to serve the church he loves.
“I’m just so thankful God called us back to our home. I want my church family to know that we are so grateful to be able to serve Goodwater Baptist Church. Thank you for all the cards and gifts and encouraging words,” Meadows shared.
Children’s Minister Luke Hardin, who has served at Goodwater for a little over a year, expressed his appreciation for the love and encouragement he has experienced as a young minister.
“The year and some months I have been at Goodwater Baptist Church I have felt very loved and appreciated. I’m grateful that I’m at a church that values a young children’s minister that is still learning so much each day,” Hardin said.
As the evening drew to a close, the laughter gave way to moments of heartfelt gratitude. Each minister was presented with generous gifts, cards, and meaningful words of encouragement. The overwhelming expressions of love left the ministers and their families deeply touched.
For Pastor Jason Webb, who is celebrating seven years of ministry at Goodwater, the evening represented something far greater than the gifts received.
“The pastor appreciation event was just an incredible expression of the love and generosity that makes Goodwater Baptist Church so special. For seven years, I have had the privilege of serving alongside some of the most loving people you could ever meet. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity shown to our family, but what makes Goodwater special isn’t the gifts they give, it’s the people they are. They have loved our family so well, and I couldn’t be more grateful that God has allowed me to be their pastor,” Webb said.
While the evening was designed to honor the church’s ministry staff, it also served as a beautiful reflection of the heart of Goodwater Baptist Church. The generosity, fellowship, laughter, and genuine affection shared throughout the night demons trated the special bond between the congregation and those who serve alongside them.
In the end,“Game Night” was about much more than games, gifts, or decorations. It was a celebration of a church family united in love, grateful for one another, and thankful for the privilege of serving the Lord together.
