The Board of Aldermen were in for a surprise at the November 20, 2024, meeting.  Police Chief Denis Borges introduced Jae’Von Riley and his trained drug dog “Izzy” for a full time certified position with the city.  Following approval by the Board, Mr. Riley informed the board that he has been training dogs for several years.  “My specialty is training bird dogs,” Jae ‘Von explained.  The 2 ½ year old black lab is trained for drug bust as well as canvasing schools.  “Izzy does not bite which allows children to pet the dog,” stated Riley.

Policeman Riley will work full time with the city.
